Donegal Natural Soap - Soothing Hand Balm 55g
This Soothing Hand balm for sensitive hands was developed to gently soothe and repair busy hands. Made with a base of organic sweet almond oil, coconut oil and cocoa butter, these gentle plant oils penetrate deep into the skin to aid suppleness and retain hydration. The Soothing Hand balm for sensitive hands is reinforced with candelilla wax, a vegan fruit-based ester that soaks into skin without leaving residual stickiness. It works to strengthen the skin trans-dermal barrier and prevent moisture loss that leads to dry cracked skin. Hands work hard and, along with the face, are most exposed to environmental effects.
Beautiful organic rosehip oil is added for its powerful phytosterols and antioxidants. Antioxidants combat oxidative stress caused by free radicals (molecules that have been broken loose and want to react (a bit like a rusting-effect). Rosehip oil works to bolster the skin cell membranes and shield them from premature ageing.Another super oil that we felt had to be included was Borage seed oil, also known as Starflower oil. It is a light oil that readily soaks into the skin and is rich in gamma linolenic acid, an omega 6 fatty acid used to treat skin inflammatory diseases such as dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis. It is an essential oil for the human body and promotes cell regeneration.
A true super-oil. We use a high grade cold pressed organic grade in our balm to ensure we get it’s full potential.
We wanted to pair the wonderful plant oils in this formulation with herbs that would be essential in an ancient apothecary’s garden – cooling lavender and defending rosemary. Also gentle, relaxing patchouli. All 100% pure organic aromatherapy essential oils.

Donegal Natural Soap by Isobel Sangha in Glenties is made with a blend of moisturising vegetable oil and butters, tinted with roots and spices and scented with natural essential oils for an aromatherapy treat. Donegal soap do not use palm oil, one of the most common oils found in most commercial and handmade soap today. This is because palm oil doesn’t have that much to say for itself in terms of skin benefits and is not sustainable for the planet.
The Story
The story of The Donegal Natural Soap Business begins in 2010 when my son, then aged 2yrs, was at the peak of a painful battle with atopic eczema. In my search for relief and healing treatment, I began to research the products we used daily and what they contain.
And so it began. Starting with a simple unscented oatmeal soap crafted from larder ingredients, I used it and loved it. My children loved it. I shared with my family; they loved it and wanted more. Well, you know where this story goes.
Since making the change to only natural soap, our son’s eczema and the skin health of all of our family has never looked back. Countless hours spent creating new recipes, foraging for ingredients and thousands more hours of research. Being able to work from home in my purpose-built workshop, following my passion and hearing of the real difference my products make to people.
