The Panama Hats originate in Ecuador. Panama hats can be seen on the heads of Inca statues in the shape of a triangular cone - the tradition of weaving hats in Ecuador has been around for over 500 years.
Jenny from Majesa Hat Company campaigned hard to remove the middlemen during the 1980s, which was causing the weavers to be exploited. Today, the business continues its long-standing relationships in Cuenca which span over three decades.
