The Messy Brunette Jewellery
Step into the vibrant, fun and creative world of The Messy Brunette, that's me Maura, here bringing to life a spectrum of colours through my hand-painted wood and acrylic jewellery.
Based in the lush countryside of Tipperary, I've been weaving my creative journey since 2013, initially venturing into embroidery and small jewellery pieces. The evolution from thread to paint was a natural progression, fuelled by the desire to create beautiful and accessible accessories and lets face it, I am faster at painting than sewing!
Inspired by the colours and shapes around me, I try and use these in my work. Using FSC certified European plywood, I meticulously laser cut each piece, which is then brought to life through my hands, from painting to assembly. Conscious of our environment, I incorporate eco-friendly materials where possible across the production process, from resin to glitter to packaging.
I like to think of my jewellery as a symphony of modern techniques, like UV printing, and traditional craftsmanship, such as decoupage, blending seamlessly in my work. I use brass, papers, glitter, and perspex which gives a distinctive touch, ensuring each piece is a unique work of art. Bold, bright, and full of life, my creations are meant to be wearable art that brings a smile to your face.
In a world saturated with mass-produced items, The Messy Brunette stands out as a labour of love. These pieces won't be found in your everyday stores; (def not penneys hun) I design, create, and photograph each piece in my home studio in Ireland.
