Did You Know?

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential nutrients found in certain foods. They can serve to regulate the skin's oil production, improve balanced hydration, subdue breakouts and minimize signs of ageing. Omega-3s can also help soften rough, dry skin and have a soothing effect on irritation and dermatitis. But that's not all - there are a huge amount of benefits that can be derived from having a balanced diet that includes fish in it.

Nutrients in Fish & There Benefits

Loaded with Nutrients, fish can serve as a huge factor in our health on the inside and out. To name a few, eating fish can provide a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, selenium, zinc, vitamins A and D, and protein.

What matters on the inside?

Because fish allows us to ingest a higher amount of Omega-3 Fatty Acids - this in turn helps with the reduction of Cholesterol. Studies from Harvard University have consistently shown that lowering LDL cholesterol reduces the risk of cardiovascular death, heart attacks, strokes, and the need for cardiac catheterizations or bypass surgeries. High levels of LDL cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood have been linked to a higher chance of coronary heart disease. Maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle may help to lower cholesterol levels. This can include that very important ingredient in fish (Omega-3 Fatty Acids).

Fish that have the highest amount of Omega-3 are cold-water fish like tuna, salmon, and anchovy.

What effects can this have on the outside?

Fish oil also contains an omega 3 known as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), which can boost hydration (leading to decreased appearance of fine lines) and regulate sebum production (great for oily-skinned gyals!). It can even block enzymes that lead to ageing and skin sagging.

With regular Omega-3 consumption, your skin stands a better chance of warding off the dangers of the sun.

Omega-3 also has anti-inflammatory benefits which is great news for us because our skin can naturally get inflamed and irritated from our surroundings, such as sun exposure, free radicals, environmental changes, diet changes, stress & more. Omega-3 helps strengthen our skin's barrier against these changes. This is especially great news for those who are living a busy life in cities, where they're exposed to a lot more environmental toxins.

Another amazing natural benefit it has is that it can reduce the impacts of dermatitis and psoriasis also. Early research has discovered it may also link to treating acne.

Because we can't produce Omega-3 naturally in our bodies - it is necessary to supplement it in our diet. Therefore, eating fish is a great source of it. For our Vegetarian & Vegan girlies & guys out there - don't worry! There are actually supplements now that are vegetarian or vegan and the capsule itself is completely vegan made.

For example, a brand we recommend is Udo's Choice. They have a new formula which now allows their capsules to be 100% Vegan while providing us with necessary Omega-3, 6 & 9, so we can all reep the benefits of Omega's in our diets!
