Created entirely by Lucy Hagerty in a West Cork perfumery using prized aromatics and botanical oils from around the world. Each fragrance captures that elusive quality which is the hallmark of La Bougie and is matched with a rapeseed blend of wax to achieve the slow, clean burn for which La Bougie is renowned.
The inspiration/notes behind Black Current Leaf Candle by La Bougie
The star of my family home is the glorious garden terracing the hillside above a small Tuscan village near Florence. The heady night blooming Jasmine, trailing between the arches of the Loggia is combined with the tart, juicy notes of blackcurrant leaves in the fruit cage behind the house……. The fruit bushes are fenced and netted to keep the roaming wild boars from getting to the sun-ripened fruit before we do. If I could bottle an Italian summer evening then this would be it

About La Bougie
Having previously had an illustrious career as a chef in the UK to the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, Lucy Hagerty now has an equally colourful one as an expert perfumer. After she married an Irish man, had children and eventually settled here after a life abroad, what she wanted to do was create the perfect candle. You will often find her working in her Perfumery in Kinsale and this is where she is at her happiest.
